What Happens in Vegas . . .

. . . goes on my blog!

I had a great time at Fleming’s Pr
ime Steakhouse in Las Vegas at the Arvid dinner they hosted with Kush Fine Art. Jackie and Tony put together a great menu with some of my favorite wines that I’ve painted . . .

We started with Perrier Jouet, then continued with Groth Sauvignon Blanc, Silver Oak Cabernet, 46 Diamonds Cabernet and ended the night on a sweet note with Torbreck the Bothie Muscat Blanc. For those of you who missed it, you won’t want to make the same mistake next year!

Thanks to everyone at Kush Fine Art in the Planet Hollywood Casino on the Strip for hosting a fun show on Saturday. The staff was a pleasure to work with and the gallery looks great. Before the show opened, we all met to discuss my new works so the staff can share my stories with the guests.

On Sunday, it was off to visit Cote D’Azur gallery in Lake Las Vegas. I enjoyed getting to know everyone there and especially enjoyed dinner with the gallery staff at Sunset and Vine. Sommelier Max set us up for an amazing wine tour with a David Arthur Chardonnay, Shea Wine Cellars Oregon Pinot, Blankiet Estate Cab, and Shelter Cab. Brant and Tige jumped in with me to help out the singer for a round of “Brown-Eyed Girl” . . . we put on quite a show!

On Monday, it’s back on the road for me!

I’m working in the Delta Crown Room while I wait on my flight. Just like other business travelers, I have a briefcase with me so I can work on the road. All I need is a cup of water and I’m good to go. I can’t wait to get home and see my family and I’m looking forward to working in my own studio this week. It’s always in adventure on the road but there’s nothing like being home after a busy week.

Painting in Paradise

Key West is the perfect place to set up shop for a week of painting!

We rented a house in the Keys for the week which was perfect for working on the road. I spend the morning painting while Vanessa and the boys explore the island and then we all meet together for lunch. One of my favorite things about traveling is having the opportunity to cook with local ingredients. After stopping by the fish market, I made a quick salad with Key West Pink shrimp, mango salsa and roasted beets (my favorite!) which is great for a light lunch.
It’s fresh, easy and the bright colors make it appealing for the kids. I used organic mixed greens and added chopped jicama and sliced roasted beets. Diced mango and sweet onion, balsamic vinegar, a little bit of oil, and herbs de provence found in the cupboard complete the salsa. Topped with a skewer of grilled shrimp, this was the perfect accompaniment to the Domaine Serene Chardonnay.

A Boy and His Dog Fine Art hosted a great show – this is me with Julie and Josh who came all the way down from Boston just to see me. Thanks for joining us on the boat and thank you for adding my art to your collection!

Gallery owner David Todd impresses the kids with a lizard-to-the-nose trick. . .truly a jack of all trades!

What would a trip to Key West be without a sunset sail on the boat?

We headed out just before sunset on the Hindu to enjoy some champagne with friends as we chased down the perfect spot to see the spectacular view of the sun setting on the Carribbean. I had a great time playing captain and we were lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the green flash just as the sun slipped below the horizon.

Until next time . . . cheers!

Pebble Beach

What a great weekend of golf, food and wine!

The weather was beautiful and just right for sampling some of the best wines in the world: Tim Mondavi took some time out to tell me about Continuum, the first release of the blend he created with Robert and Marcia Mondavi. It’s a phenomenal full bodied wine and one I look forward to sharing with friends back home.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to see me and my artwork in the VIP area: I enjoyed meeting so many people!

My friend Jon came all the way out from Chicago to play a round of golf and enjoy the event: looking forward to the next game!

Thanks also to my friends and gracious hosts Mark and Paula for a fun evening of wine and art at their home: I’m honored that you have collected so much of my work and look forward to seeing you again next time!
