The Artist Dinner – The Sweetest Sixteen

Every year, Vanessa and I enjoy hosting the Artist Dinner at our Cabin to benefit the High Museum of Art in Atlanta and this year was no exception!
To celebrate the Sixteeenth year of the wine auction, we sampled sixteen of the wines featured in my artwork. Paired with specialties of Chef Ford Fry of JCT.Kitchen and performances by Monty Powell and Anna Wilson, this was the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of Spring.
Carol Thompson, Curator of African Art at the High Museum, joined us to share her experiences and lively company.
Chef Ford hard at work in the kitchen! The lamb was just one of many dishes that we enjoyed, especially with the side by side pairing of Faust, Revana, and Shafer Cabernet Sauvignons.
My friends, Country Music Award Nominated songwriter Monty Powell, and his lovely wife and jazz singer, Anna Wilson, treated us to amazing performances that made this evening truly unforgettable.

At home in the studio
Ahhh . . . home sweet home! There’s nothing I like better than painting in the studio and enjoying my time at home with Vanessa and the boys.
This is one of the pieces in my studio that I am currently working on finishing for the Pebble Beach Food and Wine event. As you can see from my previous blog, it’s come a long way. I am really excited to be the Official Artist of the event and look forward to sharing my new work with those coming out to taste some great wine & food.

Arvid in the Big Apple
Thank you to all of the galleries who came to spend some time with me at the Tribeca Grille! It was a great night of wine, food and time well spent with friends I would like to see more often.

Dinner was great and I really enjoyed sampling the menu with the chef. The lobster and beet salad is a new favorite.
I chose some excellent wines to pair with each course and just to be sure that no one left disappointed, we did a side by side tasting of the 1996 and 1997 Shafer Hillside Select Cabs and they were amazing!
What party would be complete without an afterparty? Caleb and I couldn’t miss an opportunity to jam on the ukulele for the crowd.
