Dinner at the Cabin for St. Jude

Wednesday was a great evening of art, wine, delicious food and excellent company! Mike & Sherry and friends came to enjoy a tour and dinner at my Cabin studio in support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The Melting Pot provided amazing food prepared by Chef John and Sommelier Mark Gunn paired each course with wines specially selected from his personal cellar.
We began the evening with a selection of imported cheeses paired with a 2003 Silver Oak Alexander Vallery Cabernet Sauvignon served on the front porch. This was the perfect way to ease into the relaxing atmosphere of the Cabin.
After everyone had a chance to tour the studio, we settled on the back deck for dinner under the stars. We started with a roasted beet salad paired with Zd Reserve Chardonnay, then moved on to a lobster tempura paired with a 2005 Kistler Chardonnay.
Chef John wowed us with his pit grilled prime filet which we enjoyed with a side by side tasting of 2002 Hartwell Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon and the ZD Abacus VIII. I always like to bring something special so we topped off the night with a Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon and Nickel & Nickel Dolce.

I think it’s safe to say everyone had a blast and Vanessa & I truly enjoyed spending the evening with some great new friends. Thank you Mike & Sherry, Cissy & Joe, and Harold & Chris for making the drive up from Augusta for such a memorable night!

Blu Fine Art in San Jose
It was great to be back on Santana Row! Jon Nassar hosted a great show at Blu Fine Art and I enjoyed meeting so many new people. Dinner at the Left Bank was excellent – the Coq au Vin paired nicely with the Gevrey-Chamberlin from Cote du Nuite that my friend Joe from Vintage Merchants brought to share. Thanks to my friends Michael and Lessette for sharing wine with us & some unique tips on pairing wine . . . who knew Pride Merlot and Spam would pair well??

Laguna Beach
We caught up with my buddy Scotty Cameron for a game of golf and a little R & R on Friday. There’s nothing like being on the green nice and early!
Thanks to my friend Dr. Revana at Revana Family Vineyards for hosting Julie and her friends for a wine tasting at the vineyard. Julie came to the show at Coast Gallery before they went to Napa so I invited her to stop in and see Dr. Revana. They had a great time and I’m sorry I missed it!
